In preparation for her Bat Mitzvah, Jessica will be participating in a new Pen Pal program for isolated seniors through the Jewish Federation. With COVID causing a visitation ban on assisted living facilities, many seniors are emotionally suffering in isolation from family and friends. Jessica wanted to do something that would lift their spirits during this challenging time. Jessica is looking forward to being a Bat Mitzvah and to celebrating her special occasion with her family, friends, the GLT community and, due to current circumstances, the entire virtual world via Zoom.

In preparation for her Bat Mitzvah, Abby is participating in the Daffodil Project where she will preserve the memory of the children who died in the Shoah. Abby felt that it would be meaningful to twin her Bat Mitzvah with a child who perished and was unable to become a Bat Mitzvah. She also planted 400 daffodils by the memorial wall at Gesher L’Torah to memorialize the many children lost. Abby is looking forward to becoming a Bat Mitzvah and celebrating her special occasion with her family, as well as with her friends and everyone from GLT.
Mazel Tov to GLT's own Ella Carling and Sydney Rowen for teaming up in an effort to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society - Student of the Year program. Please help them better the outcomes of young adults with blood cancers by donating to their Student of the Year Campaign. Sydney and Ella have been working very hard for the past couple of months preparing for this campaign and they appreciate your support.
Students of the Year is a philanthropic leadership development program during which students foster professional skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management in order to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world's largest nonprofit fighting blood cancer. We realized despite our age, we really can make an impact. Ever since September, we have been building a strong team with peers who are as passionate as us. We encourage you to join us in supporting Team Hemoglobin Heroes with SOY and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to our fundraising campaign. By donating to LLS, you support the many facets of LLS’s mission work from investing in groundbreaking research, providing education and support to patients, and advocating at the state and federal level for legislation to help those living with cancer. Our appreciation for your support cannot be overstated — each and every dollar donated to LLS brings us closer to our goal to end blood cancer and makes an impact for cancer patients and their families.
